Confessions for the New Year

They say a lot of things about a New Year. New beginnings. New hope. New resolutions.

A fresh new start.

And over the past weeks I have come to realize that this blog has long lost its purpose. Its meaning and what it had started out as. It has transcended from being a statement to being a personal journal. It started out as being my voice and ended up being my heart. And with the new year the winds have shifted and it is time to set sail in a new direction.

I wanted to thank each one of you who has taken the time to stop by my blog and read the crap I have been churning out week after week. It never fails to amaze me why anyone would do that. And still come back. Which is why I feel I owe each one of you an apology. And the reason why this blog still exists. I'd also want to thank you for including me in your blogroll and linking me. But at this point I'd also like to say that posts will be few and far between. So feel free to remove me from any of your links/ lists.

This is not saying that I am giving up blogging. But I am giving up blogging the way I have known it so far.

Happy New Year!

New beginnings. New hope.

A fresh new start.

And another one dropped out :-/
It's your blog how you use it is your choice and I respect that. You are on the newsreader so I will know when you post. :)
Does this also mean you won't read blogs?
Happy new year and best of luck to you.

It's probably normal to re-assess purpose & priorities in the new year. And this is not entirely unexpected. Still, I do wish you'd keep writing...even if infrequently!
Take care, and keep smiling!

I can relate with how you feel about your blog. Actually i either relate or agree with most of the stuff you've said here. I've liked your takes on many-a-subjects and of course your comments on my blog as well. You'll be missed in the "far between" times.

Take care and best wishes. To your fresh start...

New hopes...no this is making me very sad....
I'll still keep you on my blogroll though...and really, I like reading stuff which comes from the heart, they touch me more...or maybe I am just getting emotional about all these....sniff!

Wow you did take a long timeout and I was beginning to wonder if you had sworn off blogging till it finally snowed. But yes I completely understand what you mean by the post and have personally also never been a fan of 'blogging for the sake of blogging'. So we'll wait around till you get inspired again, till then however you will continue to enjoy ur previously held honory position in our blogrolls ;)

Happy New Year and hopefully happier older pastures where you'll be spending your time derived out of lesser blogging. Will look out for your posts...and do post whenever you get time...your posts had been the inspiration for my stories more than once :)

interesting take. i wish you well - hopefully like a lot of others New Year's resolutions, this one too will be broken and you will get back to writing frequently :).
Just curious though, what kind of statement were you originally planning to make through your blog? How do you measure whether you were successful or not?

Happy New Year M and may the New Year fulfill all your wishes.
Come back and pour out your heart, you will like reading it to your grandkids(of course if Blogger has a good back up). I always think how my daughter would feel reading my blogs once I am dead and gone, but don't have a lot of trust on Blogger.

Happy new year, M.

And I hope you do post more often this year.

Although, I shouldnt ask anyone to post more often while my posting is probably way more erratic than yours.

Sigh.

I like coming here because you're so prolific. And I'll continue to do so.

It's not a simple job to write 'simple things' down most of the time. You make it simple. That's simply the reason you have so many readers who are after all not so simple. :)

Happy new year!

@ all happy new year to you all and thanks everyone for still stopping by and sharing your thoughts. It means a lot to me.

@ sanjay thanks and no it does not mean I'm dropping out or I will not be reading blogs :) Just that I'm spreading out a bit and taking a different course.
@ mohit I will write, don't worry. Just thought the blog needed a little clarification, that's all.
@ seashells thanks and I'll try not be away too long.
@ rohini I'm not dead. Yet :)
@ aparna thank you and let's keep our fingers crossed okay?
@ rohan well it hasn't snowed yet....and thanks for understanding.
@ chilla-bong makes me misty-eyed to think that this blog could inspire anyone, anything. Thanks!
@ dreamcatcher well I hope so too.
@ adopted bong not sure whether I can answer your question to any satisfaction. The truth is people blog for many reasons. For many it is a journal of their life, life, feelings and events. For many it is a statement about politics, views, opinions. For most people it is an outlet. Which has always been true for me. But I've always wanted my blog to be more than my personal diary, record of my life and emotions. And lately I haven't had much luck writing anything other than that. And that tells me that I am digressing. From what I've wanted to blog about and what I do blog about. The reasons for having a blog. For remaining anonymous. For building a virtual world that does not overlap into my real world. For being myself without losing my identity in this vast open space.
Thanks for trying to understand but I'm not sure I could do a good job of explaining anything at all.
@ sandeepa well I'd love to leave behind a legacy too for my kids and grandkids and great grandkids :)) But that tale needs to be told elsewhere. Methinks.
@ megha only time will tell!
@ anand hey good to see you blogging again. So I guess you did find your inspiration. At last :)
@ terri thanks for the vote of confidence. It means a lot, really.
@ t.r. honestly i'm still searching for the new avatar :)
@ qsg thanks and I hope to be able to inspire myself too.
@ kele panchu thank you. And I try to always keep it simple because I am bad at things that are complicated.
@ perspective inc. thanks!
@ ubergeek it's about trying to find new meanings to old things. Hopefully things won't change too much.
@ shirsha no, that isn't what I meant at all.

That's sad. I haven't been here for long but I quite liked what I read. I never once stopped to ask myself "Does she write from her heart or is this just her voice?" Why? because I found it honest enough...
Anyway, your blog, your new year! :-)

Why would anyone read the crap that you have been churning out? Probably with the hope that you realise it isn't all that crappy... :-)

Can you do me a favour? Can you change the link to my blog in ur links section to Ricercar, or something, anything (other than prerona)

Right now there are a lot of places that refer to recerche.blogspot this way, but I am trying to do a gradual phase out :D

m:

oh good to see you back!

maybe i should not say that, but you asked for it! :-)

blogging for the sake of blogging is pointless. you need to write only when you feel like writing, not because everyone wants you to write something brilliant. it is but an online diary, though here you get the chance to solicit comments and opinions.

on the other hand, you might want to put up a picture or two once in a while to let everyone know that you are around, instead of racking your brains trying to come up with something funny/exceptional to say. after all, pictures do say a thousand words (and sometimes more).

terri (if you are reading this), you are one of the exceptions, each post of yours had better be funny :-), or i might just suspect that you are human after all!

Hi, this is like a backdoor entry...but I just had to drop by to say hi! :-)

You say you're struggling to write a brilliant post. Well, here I am, struggling to write ANY post for almost three months now! :-) But, seriously, whatever it is you write is pretty good and I wouldn't really fret about it.
